Gayatri Masala & Flour

We are Gayatri Masala & Flour and we set up shop on Ameba Road here in Bharveli. It is right near the church, which makes it easy for people to find us. The place is usually full of the sound of the machines grinding away. It gets quite loud in the afternoons. There is always a bit of flour dust in the air and it settles on everything, including our clothes. We don't mind it much because it’s just part of the job. Most days start early when we open up the shutters and get the stones ready for the day's work. We do a lot of flour and different spices for the folks around here. People from the village come in with their bags and wait while we process their stuff. It’s a simple setup. We have a couple of machines and some storage space for the grains and the raw spices. The air inside smells quite strong, especially when we are doing the red chilies or the turmeric. It can make you sneeze if you aren't used to it. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. The floor is concrete and we try to keep it swept, but with the flour, it’s a constant battle. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. It’s just us working on Ameba Road, trying to keep up with the daily orders that come through.
