Out here at E-21 in the Ambaji Industrial Area is where Saksham Stones Private Limited does its thing. If you come to visit, you'll see stacks of stone everywhere. It’s heavy work and everything is covered in a thin layer of white dust. We wear boots and old clothes because there’s no point in trying to stay clean. The machines are loud and they run most of the day. We have a small cabin for the paperwork but most of the action happens outside under the tin roof. It’s a tough environment, especially when the sun is beating down on the yard. We have a crane for the big blocks but a lot of the smaller stuff still gets moved by hand. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. We just process the stone and get it ready for whoever bought it. Sometimes the stone has cracks we didn't see at first, so we have to start over. That’s just how it goes with natural materials. We don't have a marketing team or a social media page. Word of mouth is how we get most of our contracts. The guys here have been working with stone for a long time and they know what they’re doing. It’s a simple life of hard work and moving heavy things from one spot to another.
