You can find Utsab Benefit Nidhi Limited over at 85B, Canal Side Road in Garia. This part of South 24 Parganas is always moving. The canal is right there, and while it’s not the cleanest thing in the world, it’s a landmark everyone knows. Garia is a crowded place, especially during the rush hours. Our office is right in the middle of it. We have a small space where we sit and manage the day's tasks. It’s nothing fancy. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s home for us. We get a lot of noise from the street, with buses and rickshaws constantly passing by. It’s the sound of the neighborhood. We’ve got some old wooden desks and a couple of filing cabinets that have seen better days. But they work just fine for what we need. People from all over the South 24 Parganas area come through here. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. You just walk in and talk to whoever is free. It’s very informal. We don’t believe in making things complicated with lots of rules or fancy titles. We just do the work. On rainy days, the sound on the roof is quite loud, and we sometimes have to shout a bit to be heard. It’s just part of being on Canal Side Road. We’re just local people helping out other local people.
