Ufohs Foundation

Ufohs Foundation is located at SD Plot Holding No 2921 in the Rajpur Municipal area. We’re at Kusumba Banabithi, c/o Rizia Rahaman. It’s in Kolkata-Parganas South. The place is a bit out of the main city rush, which is nice. We spend our time working on local community projects. It’s a small group of us. We didn't want to work in a big corporate office, so we set this up here. It’s a regular house where we’ve turned part of it into an office. There are plants around and it feels like a home. We deal with whatever comes up in the neighborhood. Some days we help with education for the kids, other days we’re looking at local sanitation or just helping a family get their papers sorted. It’s not glamorous. We do a lot of walking around and talking to people on their porches. You get to know what people really need that way. We don’t have a big budget, so we have to be careful with how we spend. But we make it work. It’s about being part of the place where you live. That’s the main thing for us. We just want to be useful to the people living around Kusumba Banabithi. Rizia keeps the office running smoothly and we have a small garden outside where we sometimes sit and talk to the neighbors. It is much more relaxed than sitting across a desk in a dark room.
