Subhashi Foundation

Subhashi Foundation is based in a place called Khas Ramkarchar, right near Saraswati Bazar. It’s in the South 24 Parganas area, specifically around Ramkarerchhar. Being out here in Kolkata’s southern outskirts means we are part of a very specific local community. We aren't some big city foundation with a lot of money. We are just locals who wanted to create a base for helping out around the bazaar and the surrounding village. Our address is 743373, if you're looking for us on a map. We do a bit of everything, depending on what's needed at the time. Sometimes it’s about education for the kids, other times it’s helping out the elderly folks who live nearby. It’s a quiet life out here, but there is always something to do. Our office is a simple room where we keep our files and meet up. We don’t have a website or a marketing person. Most of what we do is just talking to people in the market and seeing how things are going. We use our own resources mostly. It’s a bit of a struggle sometimes to get everything done, but we manage. We aren’t looking for any awards or recognition. We just live here and want to see Khas Ramkarchar stay on its feet. It is a very plain and direct way of working. People know us, and they know where to find us near the bazaar. We try to be there when someone in the village runs into trouble.
