Madhyamgram is quite a way out from the main city traffic. We are over at P-7 Purbalaya. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the center of Kolkata. We work with looms here, which is where the name comes from. It’s mostly about the weaving and getting the fabric right. The office is just a simple place where we keep the records and talk to the people who come by. We spend a lot of time looking at threads and patterns. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with all the material around, but that’s just part of the job. We have our regular routine, starting early and staying until the work for the day is finished. There isn’t any big secret to what we do, we just keep the machines going and check the quality of what comes off them. It’s a small team here in Madhyamgram. We’ve stayed in this location because it suits us and the people who work with us live nearby. We don’t have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. Just the work and the looms. The weather can be a bit much in the summers, but we have some fans and we keep going. It’s just us doing our bit with the textiles every day, nothing too complicated about it.
