We are based at 7 Sayandeep Apartment within the Nilachal Complex Phase 2. It’s a residential area in Kolkata, so it’s a bit quieter than being right on the main road. The office itself is essentially an apartment that we’ve turned into a workspace. It gives the whole place a bit of a homey feel, though the stacks of tax forms and audit reports remind you pretty quickly that it’s a place of work. We have been doing accounting here for quite some years. We don’t have a big reception desk or a bunch of people in suits. Usually, it’s just us at our computers, surrounded by calculators and pens. The light in the afternoons is quite nice through the windows, though we usually have the blinds half-closed to keep the sun off the screens. People drop by to leave their documents or to chat about their financial filings. It’s a relaxed atmosphere, but we do take the work seriously. There’s always a bit of a scramble when the tax deadlines get close. That’s when you’ll see us here late into the evening, with the lights on and more empty tea cups than usual. It’s just the rhythm of the life we have here in Nilachal Complex. We don’t try to be something we’re not. We just handle the accounts and make sure everything adds up correctly for our clients every single time we sit down to work.
