Located out here in Mohammadpur village, near the post office in Kamdampukur, life moves at its own pace. It is usually a quiet spot, but things are moving fast lately with the New Town side of things growing into Urttar Kashipur. We handle a lot of the local real estate work as Whitesign Realty LLP. People come in from all over South 24 Parganas looking for bits of land or maybe some place to set up a small shop. It’s mostly us sitting around the office, handling the papers and talking to folks who walk in. The address is a bit long for some people to find on their first try, but we are right there in the village. Sometimes the internet is slow, but we get the work done regardless. It’s not a fancy office with big glass walls or air conditioning in every corner. Just a desk and some chairs and a lot of honest talking. We know most of the neighbors around here. Working in realty means you hear a lot of personal stories. We try to keep track of who is selling what and who is looking to buy. It’s a lot of walking around in the sun sometimes to see the plots and check the boundaries. Being in West Bengal, the humidity can be a bit much in the afternoons. We just keep the fan going and keep at it. If someone needs to find us, they usually just ask for Lal Mohammad Molla’s place. It’s easier that way than looking for the pin code 700135 on a map. We stay busy with the day-to-day stuff and hope for the best.
