Our office is tucked away in Islampur village, right near the Nahata post office. It’s a part of the 24-Parganas area in West Bengal, so it gets quite humid during the monsoon months. It is a very rural setting, which is fine by us because it means we are close to the people who actually live here. You won't find any glass elevators or big corporate lobbies. Instead, we have some wooden tables and a few chairs that have seen better days. Every morning someone has to sweep the front step before we start. We spend most of our time looking at forms and helping out with whatever is needed that day. It is a lot of manual work, honestly.
