Pragya Rice Mill Private Limited is based out in Jugberia on Manikdanga Road. Like other businesses in this part of North Parganas, we are located near Tegharia. We share a care-of address with Kabita Roy. Running a rice mill is tough work and doesn't leave much time for sitting around. We are busy from the moment the sun comes up. Most of what we do involves handling raw paddy and turning it into something people can actually use. The machines are old but they still work well if you take care of them. We have a few guys who have been with us for years and they know the equipment better than anyone. It’s a noisy place, and the air is always full of that specific grain smell. We don't have any polished sales pitches. People come to us because they know we are here and we do the job. The road out to Jugberia can be a bit rough after a storm, so we sometimes have trouble with the trucks. We just deal with it as it happens. We keep our records in a simple ledger and don't bother with much computer stuff. It’s a very traditional way of doing things. We just want to keep the mill going and make sure the farmers get their rice processed. It’s a basic life, but it suits us. We aren't looking to change much about how we work.
