Neelamadhab Fisheries is out in the New Town area, specifically around Chabdiberia in Rajarhat. We operate from a place near Ramkrishnapally. Being in the fish business in West Bengal is a serious thing because everyone here knows exactly what they want. We started this because we saw how much work went into getting reliable local supplies to the markets. Our setup is at Prafulla Mondal’s place, which is a well-known spot in the Krishnapur area. It’s not some sterile office; it’s a working fishery environment through and through. We deal with the daily cycles of managing the stock and the water. It’s messy work sometimes, and you definitely get your hands dirty and your clothes wet. The mornings start really early for us, usually before the sun is even up, because that’s when the real work happens in fisheries. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in India, we just want to do right by the local markets around Rajarhat and New Town. The area has changed a lot with all the new buildings and IT hubs going up, but our work remains pretty much the same. It takes a lot of care to keep things running properly. We have a small crew of people who really understand how to handle the water and the fish. It’s a practical, local business and we don’t feel the need to dress it up. We just provide fish to the people who need it.
