You can find us on Talpukur Road, over at Pally Niketan. Hindumuslim Oikko Moncho Foundation is basically run from Arun Kr Mukherjee’s place. It’s a regular house, nothing fancy about it. We have a lot of people coming in and out during the day. This foundation is all about people getting along. We live in a world where everyone seems to be fighting, so we figured we’d try to keep things peaceful around here. We sit on the porch and talk to anyone who stops by. It’s about being good neighbors, regardless of what you believe. We handle small disputes or just help people who are having a rough time. There’s always a pot of water for anyone who’s thirsty. The street outside can get pretty dusty, but it's our home. We don’t have a big budget or any corporate backing. It’s just us and the local community members. Sometimes we organize small gatherings or help out with local festivals so everyone feels included. It’s not always easy, and sometimes people disagree, but that’s part of it. We listen more than we talk. The paperwork is kept in a couple of old metal cupboards. It’s a very local effort, very hands-on. We just want to make sure the neighborhood stays a friendly place for everyone’s kids to grow up in. We’ve been here for years and hope to stay as long as we’re needed.
