Bonding With Animals & Nature Foundation

Our foundation is based out of Shimuliaparachandpara, which is a bit of a quiet spot. Amullya Biswas is the one who really looks after things here. We started Bonding With Animals & Nature Foundation because we saw a lot of things in our area that needed attention. It’s not a big organization with a lot of funding or fancy cars. It’s just us trying to help the local animals and keep the trees standing. Sometimes we find a stray dog that’s hurt or a bird that’s fallen out of a nest. We do what we can with what we have. People in the village know us as the folks who are always walking around looking at the plants. It’s a humble setup, mostly run out of a small space with a few basic supplies. We don't spend money on advertising or big events. We’d rather use those few rupees for feed or medicine. The weather in Kolkata can be really tough, especially in the summer when the heat is bad for everyone. We try to put out water bowls and talk to people about being kind to the creatures around them. It’s slow work and sometimes it feels like we aren't doing much, but then you see a tree you planted finally grow tall. That makes the long days in the sun worth it for us.
