About Bangabhumi Social Welfare Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in 24 Paraganas North
We are out in the village of Gaborda, near Bhaduria in the Swarupnagar area. The foundation is set up at Biswanath Roy’s house. It’s a rural spot, so things move a bit slower here than they do in the city. Bangabhumi Social Welfare Foundation is basically a group of us from the village. We know everyone around here, from the farmers to the shopkeepers. Our work is pretty much whatever the community needs at the moment. If a family is struggling after a bad harvest, we try to find a way to help them out. If there’s a problem with the local well, we get together to figure out how to fix it. We don't have a formal office with a sign on the door. People just know where Biswanath lives. We sit out in the yard under the trees when the weather is nice. We talk about the crops, the weather, and what needs to be done for the village. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s ours. We use our own tools and our own time. There’s no big funding coming from anywhere, just what we can gather together. We do our best to keep things fair and make sure nobody gets left behind. It’s simple, honest work that we do because we live here and we care about our neighbors in Gaborda. Most days, someone drops by just to chat about the local news while we work.
