Ramadevi Laundry Shop

Ramadevi Laundry Shop is over at house 1/4 in Itikalapally. Narsampet is where we spend all our time. It is a lot of washing and drying every single day of the week. The water runs almost all the time. We get clothes from all over Warangal. People bring their heavy blankets and their daily shirts. It is a lot of scrubbing sometimes for the tough stains. The iron gets really hot in the afternoons and the room fills with steam. We have some help but mostly it is just the routine of it all. The shop is not very big but it is full of stacks of clean clothes waiting to go home. We try to remember whose shirt belongs to who without making mistakes. It can get confusing when it is a busy Monday. The weather matters a lot to us because of the drying process. If it rains, we have a bit of a problem with space inside the shop. Itikalapally is a nice enough place to work and live. We know most of the neighbors who pass by. They drop things off on their way to work. We stay open late most nights to make sure everything is folded and ready. Sometimes the soap runs out and someone has to run to the store quickly. It is just a laundry shop, nothing more than that. We use the buckets and the machines and the long wooden tables for folding. (247 words)
