If you look for us in Gudur, Warangal, you’ll see the steam coming out of the front most mornings. We’ve got a lot of washers and dryers going at once, so it stays pretty warm in here even when it’s raining outside. Most of our time is spent sorting through piles of clothes and checking pockets for loose change or pens that might ruin a whole load. Ironing is probably the hardest part because you have to stand for hours to get the creases right on those formal shirts. We use a lot of starch and soap, so that’s basically all we smell like when we go home. The racks are usually full of plastic-wrapped clothes waiting for their owners to stop by after work. Sometimes we get a stubborn stain that takes three tries to get out, and that can be really frustrating. We aren't a big chain or anything, just a local spot where people bring their bedsheets and work clothes. The old boiler makes a lot of noise sometimes, but we’re used to it. We try to keep things organized, but on Mondays, the stacks of laundry can get pretty high. It’s a simple business of cleaning things up and making sure nothing gets lost in the shuffle. We just focus on getting the piles down and the shirts hung up properly. The floor gets slippery with all the soapy water, so we have to be careful when we're carrying the big baskets of wet towels to the dryers. It’s a routine that we know by heart now.
