Jaydix Art is situated right at the Kakosi Cross Road, which is very close to the Cross Road Hotel. It’s a busy intersection, so there’s always a lot of cars and people passing by our front door. We do art work here, but it’s more the practical kind like signs, painting, and sometimes some decorative stuff for people's homes or shops. The space is filled with cans of paint, brushes, and big sheets of board. There’s always a bit of a smell of thinner in the air, which we don’t even notice anymore. We don’t have a big gallery or anything like that; it’s more of a working studio where things are constantly being moved around to make room for the next project. Sometimes the floor is wet with paint, so you have to watch where you step. We spend a lot of time sketching out ideas on scraps of paper before we actually start on the final piece. Most of our customers are local business owners who want a new sign or someone who needs a gift made up. We don't have a fixed schedule; we just work until the job is done. It’s a bit messy and disorganized at times, but that’s just how the creative process goes for us. If you’re at the cross road, you can usually see our latest project leaning against the wall outside drying in the sun.
