Peenya Industrial Area is a tough place to spend your day. It is mostly just metal, grease, and a lot of noise. We are located at No. 17 J2 in the 2nd Phase. The building we are in is purely functional. We have all the machines running on the ground level and the office work happens up on the 2nd floor. You can constantly hear the wire drawing machines thrumming through the floorboards. It is a vibration you just get used to after a while. South India Wire Products Private Limited has been part of this industrial landscape for a long time. The air in the morning always smells like oil and cold steel. We all wear heavy shoes because the floor is rough and there are often bits of scrap around. Our desks are covered in notebooks and technical drawings that we use to keep track of production. The traffic in Peenya is a nightmare during rush hour so we all try to arrive early to avoid the worst of it. We spend our days making sure the gauges are set right and the wire is coming out according to the specs. It is physical work even for those of us sitting at the desks. We are constantly running down the stairs to check on a specific batch. The windows look out onto other grey factories. We have a small sink in the corner for washing the grime off our hands before lunch.
