Ss Creations

Ss Creations is over at No. 10 Kvp Layout in the Alangadu area. It’s a part of town where a lot of people are involved in some kind of making or sewing. Our building is a simple two-story structure. The ground floor is where we keep the materials, and upstairs is where most of the actual work happens. It’s not a very quiet place because of the machines running all day. We have stacks of fabric in different colors piled up against the walls. Sometimes it’s hard to walk through the aisles without bumping into something. We have a small window that lets in some light, but mostly we rely on the overhead tubes. The desk in the corner is piled with sketches and scraps of paper. We don’t use any computer systems for our designs, we just draw them out by hand. It’s more direct that way. The neighborhood is full of small businesses like ours, so there’s always someone hauling a bag or unloading a truck nearby. We’ve been in Kvp Layout for a while now, and the neighbors are like family. We share tea and talk about the weather or the price of materials. It’s a lot of manual work and long hours, but seeing the finished pieces makes it feel okay. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders as they come in.
