If you walk through Peddalingya Thanda, you’ll eventually find us at 4-112/1. That’s where Srinu Auto Service is located. It’s usually a bit of a mess with parts and oil, but that’s how a garage is supposed to look. Vemnoor is home for us, and we spend most of our time under the hoods of vehicles or fixing up bikes that have seen better days. My hands are almost always stained with grease, no matter how much I wash them. We don’t have a fancy waiting room with a television or coffee. People usually just stand around and talk while they wait for their repairs. It’s a small shop, but it keeps the local folks moving. The sun beats down on the corrugated roof in the summer, making it pretty hot inside, so we do a lot of the work right out front where there’s a bit of a breeze. We don’t really bother with big signs or flyers to get people to come in. Word travels fast enough in a Thanda like this. If someone breaks down, they eventually find their way to our door. It’s just about turning wrenches and making sure the engines sound right. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and the neighbors know us by name. It’s just what we do. We like working with our hands and seeing things run again by the time the day ends.
