Chandram Chemical Industries

Out here at Plot No. 91/3-4 C-1 in Phase-1 of GIDC, Vatva, you’ll find Chandram Chemical Industries. It’s an old industrial area, and we’ve been part of it for a good bit. Working with chemicals means there’s always a certain smell in the air around our gate. We get used to it, but visitors usually notice right away. We have a lot of tanks and pipes running all over the place. It’s a lot of monitoring temperatures and mixing stuff in big vats. We have to be careful, obviously, so there’s a lot of checking and double-checking the valves. The crew wears their gear and we just get on with the batches. Some days we’re running full capacity and other days we’re cleaning out the lines for a new run. Vatva is a busy place, always trucks coming in and out with drums and bags. Our space isn't huge, but we make the most of it. We keep the ledger books in the front room, and the back is where all the heavy lifting happens. It gets pretty humid in the summer, which makes the work tougher, but we’re used to the rhythm. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around. We just want to make sure the chemicals we send out are what they’re supposed to be. It’s honest work, even if it’s a bit messy sometimes and the floor stays stained no matter what we do or how much we scrub.
