Our small factory, Dhruva Plast, is situated at Plot No. 184/a/7. We are right behind the SBI building in Phase-1 of the Gidc area. Having the bank so close is actually quite handy for us. The building itself is an older one, but it serves our purposes well enough. We work with different kinds of plastics, mostly doing small runs for local clients. There’s a lot of dust sometimes, so we keep the big doors open for air. My brother and I started this a few years back. We didn't have much equipment at the start, but we’ve added a few pieces here and there. The machines can be temperamental, so we spend a fair amount of time maintaining them. We don't really do much advertising. People mostly hear about us from other businesses in the Gidc. It’s a busy environment with a lot of noise from the neighboring units too. We try to stay focused on our own pile of work. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten right at the desk. Sometimes we have to deal with rain coming in under the door during monsoon, but we’ve figured out how to block it. It’s just a normal workplace with normal problems. We do what we can and hope for the best at the end of the month. It’s a lot of long hours but it’s ours. We usually close up by eight.
