Sai Sri Jewellery Works

Down here in Dharmaram, at 2-58, is where we do our jewelry work. Sai Sri Jewellery Works isn't a big showroom with bright lights and security guards at the door. It’s more of a workshop where we actually sit and make things. Our presence in this village area goes back a long time. Most people around here know us by name. Working with gold and silver is what we do, usually repairs or making small pieces for local families. It’s tedious work that requires a lot of sitting and focusing. My hands are usually a bit dirty from the polishing compounds. The tools used are old but they still work fine. A website doesn't exist for us. People just walk in when they have something broken or if there is a wedding coming up. It’s a small space, mostly taken up by the workbenches and the small safe. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when a whole family comes in at once. We don’t try to be something we aren't. We are just local craftsmen doing what we were taught by those before us. The power goes out sometimes, and then we have to wait it out or use lamps. It’s just part of life in Dharmaram. There is pride in what we finish, even if it’s just a small ring repair. It’s a quiet life, mostly, and the people we deal with are good. We just keep our heads down and keep working on the pieces.
