If you walk down towards the Pochamma Basti Community Hall in Humayun Nagar, you’ll find our little shop at 10-4-38/27. It’s a small space, mostly taken up by the display cases and the workbench in the back. We’ve been fixing rings and sizing chains for the local families for a long time. The lighting inside is a bit bright because we need to see the tiny parts of the jewelry we work on. It smells like metal polish and old velvet in here. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle the tools. People come in with things their grandmothers gave them, wanting to see if they can be repaired. It’s nice to see the history in those pieces. We spend a lot of time hunched over the bench with a magnifying glass. Sometimes the street outside gets really noisy with the kids playing near the community hall, but it keeps the place feeling alive. We aren't doing the high-end stuff you see in the malls; we just do honest work for the people in our neighborhood. The door creaks when you open it, and the glass on the counters has a few scratches from years of use. It’s our second home, and we treat everyone who walks in like a neighbor. We just keep doing what we know how to do, one piece at a time.
