Jignesh Brass Industries is one of those places you’ll find if you head down to Plot No. 4440 on K-road in Gidc - 3. Dared Jamnagar is full of shops like ours, all working with metal and keeping the machines running from dawn till dusk. Our particular plot is a bit of a walk from the main road but we like it that way because it’s a little less chaotic. The workspace is filled with the sound of lathes and the smell of cooling oil. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls or a receptionist to greet people at the door. Usually, you just walk in and find someone covered in a bit of grit who can help you out. We’ve got stacks of material piled up near the entrance and sometimes it feels like we are running out of room to move. The guys have been working together for a long time so they don't need to say much to get the job done. We take our breaks together sitting on whatever crates are handy and talking about the local news. It’s a rough and ready kind of life but it’s honest work. The K-road traffic can be a nightmare in the evenings when everyone is trying to head home at once. We just lock up the shutters, wipe our hands on some old rags, and join the crowd. It’s another day finished.
