Bahuchar Foundry Works

Our foundry is located in the Mallapur industrial area of Hyderabad. Specifically, we're at Plot No 1/C, Survey No 125. It’s a hot and gritty place to work. We do metal casting here. Most of our days are spent around the furnace and the sand molds. If you come by, you’ll see everyone covered in a bit of soot. It’s the nature of the job. We make parts for pumps and some automotive components. My father set this place up when Mallapur was just starting to develop as an industrial zone. Back then, there weren't many other shops around. Now, we are surrounded by all kinds of manufacturing units. The noise is constant—the roar of the furnace and the clanking of metal. We have a small office near the entrance where we keep the blueprints and order forms. It’s got a window looking out onto the floor so we can see what’s going on. We don't have any air conditioning, just some big industrial fans that move the hot air around. We produce a lot of smoke, so the walls are quite dark. It’s not the cleanest environment, but it's where we make our products. We supply to several larger factories in the city. It’s a steady rhythm of melting, pouring, and cooling. We take a long break in the middle of the day when the heat is at its worst. Sometimes the cooling takes longer than we expect, so we end up staying late.
