Laxmi Textiles

Laxmi Textiles is located at shop 142 inside the New Cloth Market, just outside Raipur Gate. This market is a very old part of the city and it stays packed from early morning until the sun goes down. We deal with all kinds of cloth materials and fabrics that come in big heavy rolls. The shop is often filled with stacks of cotton and synthetic bundles, so there is not much room to walk around. We spend our days measuring out meters of fabric for different traders and local buyers who come through the gate. The fans on the ceiling try their best to keep the heat away, but in the middle of the day, it gets very warm inside. We do not use any complicated systems here. Everything is written down by hand in the ledger. It is a lot of lifting and moving bales of cloth, which keeps us pretty tired by the end of the shift. The New Cloth Market has its own rhythm and we have become a small part of it over the years. We see the same faces every day and share news about the market prices while drinking tea. We are not interested in being the biggest name around, we just want to make sure the fabric we sell is what the person asked for. It is a plain, honest business and we like the familiarity of Raipur Gate.
