Amar Kothi

Amar Kothi sits on the Trident-Udaivilas Road in Udaipur. We are at 5-C, Haridasji Ki Magri, which is a nice spot near Mulla Talai. The building has been here for a while, and it has that old feel to it. It isn't like those big modern hotels you see in magazines. We spend a lot of our time making sure the rooms are clean and the courtyard looks decent. There is always a bit of dust because of the wind coming off the hills. In the mornings, you can hear the sounds of the city waking up, but it stays relatively quiet here. We have a few staff members who have been with us since the beginning. They know exactly how everything works, from the plumbing to the kitchen stove. We don't have a big corporate manual for how to talk to people. We just say hello and help out with bags or directions. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow because of the thick walls, but people don't seem to mind too much. We grow some plants in the small garden area, though the sun is quite harsh on them during the summer months. It is a family-run kind of place, really. We live and work in the same area, so we are always around if something needs fixing. It is just a house that we have turned into a business over the years, and we like it that way.
