Asha Telecom sits on Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road in the Gotalawadi area. It is a pretty well-known spot around here. We have a small shop that is basically full of everything related to phones. We’ve got chargers hanging from the ceiling and stacks of sim cards on the shelves. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. People come in from the street all day long. Some are looking for a cheap used phone and others just need their screen cleaned or a new tempered glass put on. We do it all right there while they wait. The road outside can get very dusty, especially in the dry season, so we are constantly wiping down the glass counters. It feels like a losing battle sometimes. We are just local people running a local business. There aren't any suits or ties here. We just wear our regular clothes and talk to whoever walks in. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use flashlights to finish a repair. That is just life in Gotalawadi. We don't make any big promises, we just try to do a decent job so people come back next time their phone acts up. It’s been our daily routine for a long time now. We might not have the flashiest equipment, but we get the job done for the folks who live nearby and need their phones working.
