Suresh Dal Mill

Suresh Dal Mill is easy to find if you're near the Sabji Mandi area. We sit right outside Mewari Gate, which is a very active part of town. It’s a loud area because of the vegetable market next door, but it keeps us on our toes and connected to the people. The mill has been running for quite some time now, and we've gotten used to the rhythm of the place. We handle different kinds of pulses and grains throughout the day as they arrive. The machines make a lot of noise, so it’s often hard to hear anything else when they’re all running at once. We start early in the morning when the trucks come in with heavy loads. It gets quite dusty inside the building, which is just part of the job when you work with grain. Most of the people around here know us because we’ve been at this spot for so long. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity, just a local mill doing its daily bit. The workers have been with us for years and we know their families. We usually eat lunch together when there's a small gap in the work. Sometimes the market gets so crowded that trucks have trouble reaching our gate, but we always manage to figure it out. If you look for the old gate, you’ll see our place right there. We don’t have a big fancy entrance or a lobby. It’s just a practical building meant for milling dal and keeping the work moving.
