Aarti Arts

You can find us over at Plot No. 537 in Shukrawar Peth. We are right on Shivaji Road, which stays pretty crowded most of the day. If you look across from Rajshahi Bank, that is where we are. Aarti Arts is a small place, mostly filled with paint cans and bits of boards. It’s not a very quiet spot because of all the traffic outside, but we like the energy of the street. I’ve been doing this for a long time, starting out with just a few brushes and not much else. Now we have a bit more equipment, but the way we work is still mostly the same. We take things one project at a time. Some days it is banners for a local festival and other days it is just a small sign for someone’s house. The shop gets a bit dusty, especially when the wind blows off the main road, but we keep cleaning and keep working. My family helps out sometimes when things get really busy. We don’t have a big website or a salesperson. Usually, people just see the board outside and stop their scooters to come talk to us. We talk about what they want, draw a few sketches on scrap paper, and then get to it. It’s a simple life here in the Peth area. We just try to make things look decent and get them finished when we said we would. That’s how we keep the doors open.
