Bik Charitable Foundation

We are located at Bebi Katoon's place in Ghasiyar Patti, near Najani Chowk in Bettiah. It’s in Ganj Number 2. This foundation was started because we felt like there were a lot of people in West Champaran who were being left behind. We are just a small group of locals. We don't have any big corporate backing. Most of the work is done by people living right here in the neighborhood. We help out with whatever is needed, whether it's food or helping someone get to a doctor. It’s not very organized sometimes, but we do our best. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment or a big staff. It’s just us working out of the house. We see the struggles people face every day at the chowk and in the lanes around here. We decided we couldn't just sit and watch. So we started this. It’s been a learning process for all of us. We make mistakes, but we keep trying. People know they can come to the house if they are in trouble. We don't have a lot of rules about who we help. If someone is hungry or sick, we try to find a way. It’s just a humble effort by some local folks to make life a bit better for everyone in Bettiah. We spend our evenings talking about the next steps. Sometimes the power goes out and we sit in the dark, but we keep planning. It’s just how things are in Ghasiyar Patti.
