Hapag Lloyd Global Services Ltd. has an office at 4/C/40, Vaishali Park in Mulund West, Mumbai. Even though the company name sounds big, our local office feels very much like a part of the Mulund neighborhood. We are located on B.R. Road, and it’s a busy spot especially during the monsoon season when the streets get a bit flooded. The office is inside Vaishali Park, which is a fairly well-known area. We handle a lot of the back-end services for the global shipping lines. There is always a lot of data to process and emails to answer. Most of the staff here are locals who take the bus or the train to work. We have a small pantry where we make coffee and heat up our lunch boxes. It’s not a fancy corporate headquarters with glass elevators. It’s more of a functional space where we get the work done. The computers are always running, and there’s a constant hum of fans and air conditioning. We don't really go for all that corporate talk. We just focus on our tasks and try to stay on top of the global schedules. Sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming with the different time zones, but we manage. It’s a steady job in a nice part of Mumbai. We’ve been here at Vaishali Park for quite some time and have a good routine going every single day.
