Our workshop for Alex Machine Tool Pvt. Ltd. is at 8, Gaiwadi Indl. Estate. We are located in Goregaon West, which is a pretty crowded part of Mumbai. If you’ve ever been to this industrial estate, you know it’s a lot of small units and people working hard. We have been here for quite some time now. The sounds of metal hitting metal and machines humming is just background noise to us at this point. We deal with machine tools, so there is always grease and oil around. It is a very hands-on environment. Our staff doesn't wear fancy ties or anything. We usually have our sleeves rolled up and our hands are rarely clean. Goregaon can be a nightmare for traffic, so most of us are used to the commute being the hardest part of the day. Once we are inside the gates of Gaiwadi, it’s all about the tools. We don’t spend much on decorations for the office because we’d rather have good tools in the back. It’s a local business vibe where everyone knows each other’s names. We just focus on the machines and making sure the parts are right. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied from morning until evening. We don’t have a big marketing department, just people who know how to handle a wrench and a lathe. Most of our customers just find us by word of mouth or seeing the sign.
