Roy Traders

We are located in Ambika Kalna, which is in the Bardhaman district. Roy Traders has been here for a while, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Our shop is a pretty standard place for a trading business. We spend our time dealing with suppliers and making sure we have what the local people are looking for. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. The warehouse area is often full of crates and bags, and sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze to get around. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing department. If people want to know what we have in stock, they usually just stop by and ask us directly. We use a lot of handwritten ledgers still, as it’s just easier for us to keep track of things that way. The weather out here in Bardhaman can get pretty hot, so we usually have the fans going full blast all day long. We know most of the other shopkeepers on the street, and we often share a bit of news over the fence during a break. It’s a quiet life in some ways, but there is always a truck arriving or an order that needs to be packed up. We just keep our heads down and do the work that’s in front of us every single day.
