Srinivas Granites

Down near Ongole Town, in a small village area, you can find Srinivas Granites at Plot No. 2-56/12. This part of the Prakshan district is known for its stone, so we fit right in. It’s a quiet area compared to the big cities, but we stay busy enough. The yard is where we spend all our time. We have piles of granite that we’ve collected over the months. Most of it comes from the local quarries around here. We know the people who dig it out of the ground. When a customer comes by, we usually walk them through the stacks so they can see the different textures. It’s a very hands-on process. We don't have a website or anything like that; word of mouth is how most people find us in the village. The work is dirty and we are usually covered in grey sludge from the saws. That is just part of the trade. We make sure the pieces are cut to the right dimensions because even a small mistake means a lot of wasted stone. The sun sets over the fields nearby, and that’s usually when we start locking up. It’s a simple life, focused on the material and the local community. We've been at this plot for a while, and we've seen a lot of houses in the district get built using the stone that passed through our hands. It's just what we do every day.
