Fox Mandal, was established in 1896 in Kolkata, (Calcutta, as it was then known) as one of the first Indo-British partnerships, by Mr. Gokul Chandra Mandal and Mr. J. Fox. The firm now has offices in 10 major commercial centers across India and two overseas offices i.e. one in London, U.K. and one in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Many of our firm’s Partners are well-known legal luminaries and have occupied important positions within India’s legal/government/educationsystems. Mr. G.C. Mandal, the co-founder, was a distinguished Solicitor of his times. For many years, Mr. S.K. Mandal was the Solicitor to the Government of India in Calcutta. Mr. S. Mukherjee was Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in the state of West Bengal; he was also a Minister in the State Government. Prof. N. L. Mitra has been formerly the Vice-Chancellor of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore (1997-2001) and Founder Vice-Chancellor of National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur (2001-2004). He has been instrumental in establishing some other National Law Universities in various States including Odisha. Currently he is serving as Chancellor of KIIT University, Odisha.
